Saturday Morning Session: Novel Approach of GBR for Implant Placement: Open Barrier Membrane Technique Utilizing Signaling Molecules and Allografts

Dr. Eiji Funakoshi earned his DDS degree at Kyushu Dental College in Kitakyushu, Japan; his certificate in periodontology at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts; and his MSD degree at the Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis, Indiana. He has had several academic appointments in periodontics at the above universities as well as at the Nihon University School of Dentistry in Tokyo, Japan, Kagoshima University School of Dentistry in Kagoshima, Japan, Kyushu University School of Dentistry in Fukuoka, Japan and Fukuoka Dental College in Fukuoka, Japan. Today he is a clinical professor in periodontics at Kyushu Dental University in Kitakyushu, Japan. He is a fellow of the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists; a board member of the International Team for Implantology(ITI) , section chairman of the ITI Section Japan; a member of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), the Japanese Society of Periodontology (JSP), the Japan Dental Association, and the Japanese Academy of Clinical Periodontology (JACP); past president and a founder of the JACP; and past executive board member of the JSP. Dr Funakoshi has published more than 50 publications in national and international journals and given more than 25 presentations at national and international meetings. In 2009 he won the AAP Honorary Membership Award. In 2017 he won Winner of the 2016 Japanese Society of Periodontology Award.
